Natural Paints and Colour Consultancy
Decorative painting is an artisanal skill, based on a deep knowledge of materials and ‘recipes’ which date back centuries. To achieve the different surfaces, we use a range of raw materials and ready-made media.
At our Camberwell and Amsterdam studios we are constantly experimenting with new and old recipes to produce beautiful colours and unusual combinations.
Our textured finishes and glazes include ingredients such as casein, cellulose, waterglass, lime, clays, marble dust, earth, quartz, pigments, linseed oil, lavender spike oil, beer, shellac, gum turpentine.
Wherever possible, we use natural, low-VOC paints instead of plastic-based acrylic paints. These allow surfaces to breathe while contributing to a healthier environment.
We make our own natural paints using materials such as casein and lime as well as everyday ingredients like milk.
Compared with the flatter, brighter hues of mass-produced paint, natural finishes have a soft, velvety depth. The colours appear pure and are beautifully saturated.
Natural paints are also low in VOCs – Volatile Organic Compounds – which contributes to a healthier, more eco-friendly environment.
All our colours can be mixed to suit individual schemes or the period of architecture.
